When deciding whether precision or standard cast sheeting would work best for you, there are a few things to consider. The differences may include the thickness and/or the durometer and deciding whether or not you need to apply adhesive. Below are some initial questions and answers to help you choose the right material.
1. What is the thickness tolerance needed?
• Precision cast sheets range from .010″ to .125″ in thickness with a standard tolerance of ±.005 and for above .125″ to .375″ in thickness the standard tolerance is ±.010.
• Standard cast sheets are available in ±.030 for standard sizes 24″ x 24″ and over, and ±.045 in thickness for sizes under 24″ x 24″.
2. What durometer do you require?
• Precision cast sheets are available in 20A to 50D durometer for any thickness between .010″ to .375″ thick, with 60D to 70D for any thickness between .010″ to .125″ thick.
• Standard cast sheets are available in sizes that start at .125″ in thickness with all durometers up to 70D.
3. Do you need to apply adhesive backing or bond to a substraight?
• Precision cast sheets can be made with “no wax one side” or “no wax both sides”.
• Standard cast sheets are only available in “no wax one side”.
